What is the role of the IT person?

I think the role of an IT person is to assist any educator who may have disadvantages of utilizing the necessary skills of technology to cope in the learning process., that is managing organizing ,giving technical support etc. (Prince Wallace 2008)

I think a IT Resource Person should provide workshops and training to staff on how to use various softwares and hardware. (Fabian Sterling 2k8)

The IT Resource Person should be responsible for motivating and mobilizing staff, students and all stakeholders to utilize the power of technology to enhance the education system.(Elaine Crawford 2008).

The IT resource person should implement strategies to provide support for teachers and students so that IT plays a meaningful role in the teaching/learning process. In order to do this such a person must assist in the planning and implementation and managing the IT resources available. Also, he or she must source new materials.(Nicholas Wisdom 2008)

The IT resource person should support teachers in integrating the use of technology in plannig and implementing lessons in a more meaningful way (Beverley E. Morales 2008)

The IT resouce person is responsible to sensitise teachers of the importance of the use of technology in enhancing teaching/learning and to ensure that they receive training in using these tools. In addition he/she should assist them in implementing strategies and sourcing materials. (J. Campbell 2oo8)

I.T. personell provide expertise, equipment and materials for the extention of knowledge and skills in technology. They motivate others in the planning and implementation of programmes that will enhance the teaching/learning process.(G. Lyons 2008.)
